Gently discover the great Dutch sailing areas. You'll sail around the IJsselmeer, the Frisian Lakes and the Wadden Sea (UNESCO World Heritage) on the Elizabeth.

Texel

With this beautiful holiday trip aboard clipper Elizabeth you will discover the best of the beautiful and water-rich Dutch provinces of North Holland and Friesland. From the water you can enjoy flat polder landscapes, historic windmills, a UNESCO World Heritage Wadden Sea, hidden villages on the edges of the Frisian lakes and the many picturesque harbor towns along the coast of the IJsselmeer. A very varied and extremely unique journey!

Itinerary:

Day 1 - Boarding in Lemmer
From 20:00 you can board on board the Elizabeth in the village of Lemmer.

Day 2 - Kampen
After a delicious breakfast and a short introduction on deck, the lines are released and we set sail for the Hanseatic city of Kampen.

Day 3 - Medemblik
After breakfast we leave Kampen again and set course for the West Frisian Medemblik. We'll arrive here in the afternoon. It is worth to stroll around this beautiful town with old buildings in the heart of the city. As well as a walk through the garden of Radboud Castle.

Day 4 - Texel
The Elizabeth sails to the North Holland Wadden Island of Texel. On Texel you have the opportunity to rent a bicycle and explore the island. The dunes and deep beaches of Texel are breathtaking!

Day 5 - Terschelling
The Elizabeth sails from Texel across the unique Wadden Sea nature reserve to Terschelling. With a little luck you will see seals sunbathing on a sandbar along the way! The arrival on Terschelling is an experience in itself. The Elizabeth moors in the bustling harbor of the village of West, with its striking square lighthouse. On Terschelling you can expect beautiful villages, extensive dunes and lots of nature. Take a walk through West-Terschelling, or on the Green Beach. Or rent a bicycle and watch the sun go down on the Boschplaat on the eastern part of the island or on the North Sea beach.

Day 6 - Makkum
Today the Elizabeth sails back to the IJsselmeer. At Kornwerderzand the ship enters the lock and returns to fresh water. The Elizabeth sails across the IJsselmeer to Makkum, a trip of about an hour. Makkum is a fishing and farming village, founded in the 10th century. In the Middle Ages, the village became world famous for its Makkum pottery. Even today, the pottery from Makkum is still popular and Koninklijke Tichelaar makes handmade traditional Makkum pottery. Nowadays Makkum is mainly a water sports resort.

Day 7 - Heeg
The Elizabeth continues via the IJsselmeer and some Frisian canals. You will be amazed at the large number of sailing boats on the lakes: from large to small! The lakes are surrounded by extensive green meadows with cows, horses and sheep. The day ends in Heeg, a lovely watersportvillage. You will find enough cozy terraces here.

Day 8 - Lemmer
The Elizabeth sails through the Frisian canals to her homeport Lemmer. In the afternoon you have to say goodbye to the crew and your fellow travelers. Your holiday is over, but the unique memory remains!

The daily programm depends on the wind- and weatherconditions. The captain will consult the guests and determines the planning. There's a little adventure involved!
