Your stay at the Elizabeth

Port of departure: Lemmer

Elizabeth-01

The Elizabeth is a luxury clipper with no less than 3 masts. It has 34 - 35 sleeping places on board, and below deck, there is a spacious salon with a cosy bar, four large tables and a comfortable seating corner. All furniture is movable, so the layout is flexible. The large windows ensure lots of light and always give you a view of the surroundings.

The Elizabeth has room for large groups for, for instance, a cool school camp, or a family weekend. The great saloon and cosy bar also particularly make the Elizabeth very suitable for business customers: an active day trip or multi-day company outing, a training session, a product presentation, or a meeting/brainstorm session in a neutral and inspiring environment – it is all possible aboard the Elizabeth.

Sailing on the Elizabeth

Elizabeth-19

When you cast off the ropes on board the Elizabeth, the adventure starts immediately. Together the sails are hoisted and skipper Alwin ensures that the right course is set. Even guests without sailing experience become true sailors in no time. Nobody will be bored on board, because if the sales are set, everyone can enjoy view or get a drink at the bar. When guests don’t have time to actively help sail the ship, the sails can also be operated electrically.

The home port of the Elizabeth is Lemmer, from which the Frisian Lakes and the IJsselmeer can be reached directly. With trips that last a midweek or longer, the Wadden Sea is also a great option.
The skipper will also be happy to show you the 'Venice of the North', Giethoorn, and sail with you to typical Dutch villages like Vollenhove or Blokzijl.

If you want to go sailing on the Wadden Sea for a weekend, a different port of departure can also be chosen in consultation.

The ship has a large catering kitchen. You can find a gas stove with 6 cookers and an oven, a large refrigerator and a freezer, a gastronomy dishwasher and a coffee maker.

These 10 double cabins all have their own shower and toilet. The beds are next to each other with a stand in between, so that there is plenty of storage space in the cabin as well. In 6 of the cabins, it is possible to place a third bed above one of the beds. In four cabins, a third and fourth bed can be placed above the two lower beds.
A single cabin is also available on request. This cabin does not have its own shower and toilet. When using this cabin, the sanitary facilities of an adjacent cabin can be used.

From the salon, through a broad staircase, you can reach the seating corner on deck, where you can sit back and enjoy the beautiful landscape during the sailing trip.

Facilities on the Elizabeth

Historry

Zeeland clipper Elizabeth was launched in 1913 at the wharf of the Geleijns brothers in Moerdijk. It was one of the four identically built river clippers Elizabeth, the Avontuur, the Elizabeth 2 (our Elizabeth) and the Marigje. These sister ships belonged to the last generation of river clippers. These four clippers are characterised by their extra heavy construction. This was needed for the transport of basalt stones for the construction of seawalls in Zeeland. However, for decades, the Elizabeth mainly transported sugar beets on the waters of Zeeland.
The ship was converted into a modern charter ship in 1991. There is a strong emphasis on space and comfort, meaning the ship is very versatile. Over the past two decades, the ship has been consistently well maintained and adjusted to modern standards.
